Valley Line Railroad

The first railway built through the Cuyahoga Valley between Canton and Cleveland, (completed in l880) connecting Akron to areas both south and north. This railway replaced the canal in the moving of most goods except coal. The trestle crossing Lock 13 was built between 1910 and l916 to replace an older wooden structure. It is now owned by the National Park Service and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad carries excursion trains between Cleveland and Akron.
