Crosby, Dr. Eliakim

CROSBY

CROSBYAn Akron pioneer who built the mill race from a diversion dam on the
Little Cuyahoga River near East Market Street to downtown Akron. The energy released by the falling water turned the wheel of his Old Stone Mill to make wheat into flour. The water then flowed into the valley in what is now the Cascade Locks Park where it turned mills and factories in an industrial valley that included the Cascade Mill and the Aetna Mill.
