Flour

A fine, powdery substance made by grinding grain, especially wheat. The largest flouring mills in the state were in Akron. In l827, immediately after the opening of the canal, farmers in Portage County went into the commercial production of wheat for the first time. Crosby’s Old Stone Mill built on Mill Street near the present site of Cascade Plaza was said to be the finest flour mill in all Ohio.
